Some friends and I want to get tattoos together.  We thought for months about what to get because even though we are all great friends, we are very different and we wanted our tattoos to match our personalities, but also remind us of each other.  One friend quipped, "It doesn't have to match, we'll still know that we got the tattoos together and that's what matters."  Sage advice.  I'm a big believer in the adage it doesn't have to match, it just has to go together, I follow this guideline in decorating and fashion especially.  So, as far as our tattoos go, we want them to be unique to each person, but have a theme.  I immediately thought plants.  We all have a deep connection to nature and sometimes refer to ourselves as the Farm Kids.  Great. Nature.  That really narrows it down.  Next I thought of Harry Potter books and the Wizarding World created by J. K. Rowling.  We all loved those books and still watch the movies and talk about them.  I've always wanted to get a Harry Potter themed tattoo.  But, I also didn't want to get a tattoo that every fan has, so I realized it had to be more subtle.  So I suggested that we each pick a magical plant found in the Wizarding World, a plant that has meaning for each one of us.  My friends immediately started listing off every magical plant they could think of and what they are used for.  What a bunch of nerds.  I love them!

For my friend, the fiercely independent one, Wolfsbane, or Aconite, which grows in wild places can ease the symptoms of lycanthropy.

For my friend, the wild and sporty one, Gillyweed, to help you breathe underwater.

As for me, I still can't decide between Dittany or Rue.  I find myself drawn to the plants used for healing.  But then, I'm also intrigued by the purely fantastical ones, such as Dirigible Plums.  Back to the drawing board for me!
